DESCRIPTION

Usually "Spyder" defines a roofless model. But with the Boxster already being a convertible, "Spyder" is a marker which is unique. The rework for 2009 Boxster S serving as the starting point, Porsche engineers set their sights on a distinctive design and saving weight, lowering it by 80kg. Aluminium Doors which save 15kg, Carbon backed Bucket Seats 12kg. The new 10-Spoke wheels, being the lightest set of 19" wheels which Porsche produce, weighing less than 10 kilos each. Also the lower side windows shed a few pounds. Top Speed is limited to 124mph with the Roof Up but lifted to 166mph with the roof down. Other weight saving techniques include lighter side windows, a new front bumper with LED lights, black mesh inserts for the side intakes, a plastic wind deflector between the seats, a high-level third brake light, also a larger fixed rear spoiler. All the weight reduction techniques, and redesigning features of the car, assists this car to reach 0-62 mph in just under 5 seconds with a total top speed of 163 mph.
