Cosworth. The ultimate name when its comes to hot hatches.
The Escort RS Cosworth was the king of hot hatches, and still regarded by many as the best ever built.
Although it is named an Escort, it shares very little with the lower model Escorts. Only the doors and roof panel remain the same, everything else is unqiue.
Built to replace the Sapphire Cosworth, it was basically a shortened Sapphire chassis with the wide arched Escort Cosworth body dropped onto it. The arches were wide so that big rally wheels could be put under there, and to cover the wide track from the 4WD system. Then there was that huge whale tail, never has a spoiler been so iconic.
When these were new in the 90's, they were the most stolen car in Britain. They famously cost more to insure than they cost to buy, people speak of paying £20k plus to insure them.
Thankfully, now they are seen as a true classic and sought after by collectors. Ford will never build a car like this again.
These will only ever go up in value. If you couldnt afford one when they were new, now is the time to buy. An appreciating modern classic.
Look at the 3 door Sierra Coswoths, the RS500 now commands a huge price!
This Cosworth Lux is a 1995 car, one of the last ones, and looks absolutely amazing in Dark Aubergine paintwork with Raven leather Recaro interior.
It has covered 63055 miles, had 8 previous owners and has a full service history. Most importantly with these cars, it is HPI clear.
Most Cosworths have been modified now, this one has only very minor mods which are:
Uprated cone air filter
Stainless exhaust - full system
Koni adjustable dampers
Drilled disks & Redstuff pads - the originals are known for being poor.
Vibratech transmission mounts
These have been done to enhance the driving pleasure from the car, but without taking too much away from the originality. They are easily reversible and many of the original parts are included.
The bodywork and interior of the car are standard and in very good condition. The leather has no rips or marks, and the bodywork has no rust or accident damage.
The original 16" wheels are all in great condition and all have good tyres on.
We have a large file of paperwork & invoices for the car, showing how much it has been cared for over the years.
Every MOT is present and the service book is fully stamped up to date. It has had a full service and belts in May 2012 and the MOT expires in December 2013.
We have all original handbooks, service books and 2 sets of keys.
There is also a car cover and some of the original parts with the car.
Our detailing team are preparing the car this week, so that the paintwork is looking just as good as new.
It is rare to find an Escort Cosworth in a condition like this, and we feel this is probably the best avaliable on the market today.
Viewing of this car is highly reccomended. If you would like anymore information, or to arrange a viewing, please call our sales team on 01772 663 777.
